Nordo Mainstage Productions:
onērus™ – September 21 – November 19
The year is 2046. Transparency, the technology allowing citizens to be connected to the cloud 24 hours a day through their brains, has rendered Cascadia incapable of dreaming. You have heard tell of the machines at onērus™, 100% organic dreams harvested from Deviants. The day has arrived when your credit account reads ONĒRUS™ DREAM VIEWING AVAILABLE. You cash in your Credits™. What will real dreams taste like? Onērus™, Nordo’s 10th original dining experience conceived of by Erin Brindley and Terry Podgorski, premieres this fall.
SMOKED – April 19 – June 30
Nordo’s spin on the Spaghetti Western returns with Ray Tagavilla channeling Clint Eastwood as an enigmatic stranger who comes to the town of Sauget. One farmer has had enough of the powerful forces dictating who owns the land and the crops in this small town, and Sauget is preparing for his hanging. Smoked unfurls with the slow burn of a Leone film coupled with a score so good it inspired Nordo’s spinoff band, Two Horses Too Many.
Collaborations and Co-Creations:
The View from Santa’s Lap- December 7 - 24
Small town girl, Becky June Beasley-Jones, is on the run from the law for a crime she did not commit and takes refuge in the sprawling Klootzak's department store on Christmas Eve. Little does she know there is a killer on the loose among the festive holiday bargains. Can Becky June put a stop to these whimsical, heart-warming murders before she herself ends up stuffed in a stocking? Beloved local writer and puppeteer Scot Rigsby Auguston returns to Nordo to create holiday tradition consisting of Food! Music! Mermaids! and 70% fewer coins in the swear jar than last year’s Christmas is Burning. (You can bring your mom to this one.)
The Maltese Falcon- February 10 – April 2
A collaboration with Book-it Repertory Theatre
Book-It returns to Nordo’s Culinarium with their signature literary adaptations. This year they bring Dashiell Hammett’s definitive noir thriller to life. Last year’s collaboration A Moveable Feast sold out months in advance, membership is the only way to guarantee a seat at Sam Spade’s table.*
Persimmon Nights – July 12 - 29
Sara Porkalob (Madame Dragon) returns to Nordo to direct and star in the premiere of playwright Seayoung Yim’s sultry tale. Set during the first large scale wave of Asian American Immigration in The Persimmon Grove, a lurid nightclub, a brash young Korean immigrant rises to great heights in his ethnic enclave while balancing two lovers and many debts in the 1960s/70s. At the top of his game, he risks it all. Persimmon nights features pungent Korean food and the all-girl pop trio The Kimchi Kittens.
